If I were you and only looking to fill your 26g tank I would look into rams. Buy a group and wait for them to pair off them sell the rest.

Good tankmates with them could be, neon terras, cardinals, bloodfins, black neons, mollies, platies, swordtails, mystery snail, Neirite snail.

Came across this and it’s really close to me actually It’s on my way home from college when I go back. What do you think? He’s also got a bunch of cichlids for sale.

That seems pricey, I'd rather buy new at that price. 55g costs $65 (I think?) on sale at Petco and you can get a stand for ~$120 or rig something up with cinder blocks, plywood, and a cover (tapestry, fabric, etc.) for $40 or less.

I’m going to my favorite pet store in my state tomorrow and I know he has quite a few different cichlids from both SA and Africa. I’ll see what he has specifically for SA and ones that will be suitable for soft water.

I recommend you do more research and obtain more knowledge before you go out and pick up some cichlids especially while being guided by a petco employee.

Well he’s not a petco employee and knows quite a bit about fish. More than some on here even. Of course he has to his job is to take care of fish lol
