I have a 55gal I need to set up for some fish coming in next week, and it has a simple DIY brick and wood stand. In the past, I've had it set up with 3 "pillars" of bricks - one on each end and one in the middle, like the first photo. Then it has a 2x4 top that sits on the bricks, then the tank on top of the 2x4s. But, it is shorter that way than I would like it to be, lower to the floor, so I'm wondering if it's still viable and safe for the tank if I do just the two pillars on the ends of the tank, still using the 2x4s as a top - skipping the set in the middle (like the second photo). I can use the extra bricks not used in the middle, to bring it up higher to a better height...but I'm no structural engineer and I don't want to worry about breaking the tank lol.

The 2nd pic is just fine, no issue with stacking 3 high. You can even lose the 2x4's if you want to if using a glass tank with the plastic trim on the bottom or just cut 2 small pieces of plywood to set just on the top of the cement blocks.

It would probably be fine. However, the top photo provides much more stability and you would only have to buy a few more cinder blocks. They are pretty cheap.

Nah, I like the 2x4s lol. Keeps me sane ?

Yes and no. These are just pics taken off the internet, the bricks I'm using aren't your "traditional" concrete brick...more of a garden stone, but bigger and solid concrete. Not sure if they're even in stock this time of year, and they weren't as cheap as the traditional bricks (which is what I went to go get at the time, but they were totally sold out and I had to have the tank set up within a day or two, so went with what they had). Plus, I'd have to paint them black to match the rest, and it's damn cold outside right now lol.
