I introduced my CK to a new home 2 days ago, and he is getting a bit beat up by my indo 4" bulky for a small indo.. the clown is 5" and pretty bulky for a small clown.. basically I'm wondering wether to let the clown stay or to put him back in the little tank and let him take the beating again next time I introduce him..

it won't matter if I will reintroduce him later since the indo is hateful as hell and will beat on everything no matter size or temper.. introduced 20" plec and he would get a headace trying to figure out how to get a reaction from headbutting it.. good thing is that the aggression wears of in a couple of days so it basically comes down to how much beating the clown can stand.. during these 2 days he has a couple of rips in his fin, scratches in his scales (nothing deep but enough to be seen as bright lines in his body) and the aggression is clearly lessened from the indos side..

The ck is not the least shy and will come out and eat and otherwise ok, I'm just not sure how much damage there really is.. is it just bruises or is it actually serious damage..

help me guys..

i can say this. small clown knife fish are very fragile. It may be best to separate the two for a while . untill the ck is about 7+ inches. Thats just my thoughts

Try removing the Indo for a bit and reintroduce the Indo into the tank again.

yup, agreed

wellwell.. I'm on it! thanks, I'll keep you updated!

jup.. it seems like it did the trick, thanks guys! bruised but happy CK!

that was quick

when i brought my fish back from babysitting, my 16" clown knife was attacking my 22" silver and 8" jardini.

i was mean and put the ck into my sump for a week and put him back. everythings good and he doesn't even try to eat the food i give the aros.
