CK progress

I bought 2 ck's about a month ago at about 4-5 inches. They're now about 6 inches, and took bloodworms for the first time yesterday. WOOT! So in that perspective, i'm going to try the sinking pellets. I didn't even have to fight with them to take the frozen food! (if I seem too excited about this, you've never owned a ck lol)

what kind of sinking pellets are you getting? I bought some that i thought were sinkers but the floated LOL

I'm not feeding pellets yet. I started with frozen bloodworms, that I was hand feeding my bgk, and they just started looking for them at the bottom. I got lucky there. Then I cut up some silversides pretty small and they started taking those. The little gold one isn't as thrilled about them as the bigger one is, so I still have to supplement with feeders once a week. But it's coming around. I'll start with the sinking pellets in a few weeks. I started my last one with bottom feeder pellets broken into fours. So that's going to be my first try. I'll keep you updated.

It's really hard to get pics of them right now, they're still pretty shy, and the tank is really planted.

I grew my ck up on hikari sinking carnivore pellets, now he is over 2 ft long. Hikari makes these newer kinds of sinking pellets called massivore delite, and he seems to enjoy those now. I am trying to switch him off of feeder fish all together now (I used to give them to him 2 or 3 times a week, about 15 large) by using shrimp. We'll see how that goes.

brings back alot of great memories when i started my ck on non live food..i was so happy when he ate his first frozen bite haha.. i give mine pellets {sinking cichlids pellets} and floating too..i trained him to eat from top and bottom.. also he eats algae pellets and silversides and krill and shrimp.. your going to love your ck ..they are just great!

ask them to order you some..i always get hikari sinking gold cichlid pellets. or order from Dr. Foster and smith..

Thanks for the tip , now that my guy is getting almost 14 inch mark i would like to try the bigger hikari massivore delite also.. this way his big mouth can have something to chew.. instead of just swallow could you post a pic of your monster..
