Thanks, I'll keep you posted. If its not going to be a threat to the rest of the pack I'll put it back in with them, as it doesn't seem very happy in the small tank by itself and isn't eating as much as it should be.
Best of luck with it. I hope for a quick healing! One other thing that I thought of, I frequently use Melafix as a tonic for skin injuries, not sure it will help for HITH. If you try it, be sure to keep the aeration up as this product seems to affect O2 levels.
Got some Metro while at the vet with the cat last night, so I'm going to give it a shot then put it back in with the school and try feed him up. I have used melafix before, but I haven't this time. I've added a bit of salt, and I think its starting to look a little better.
I'll keep you updated, thanks for the help!!
Looking much better this morning after two treatments of Metro in 48 hours (with a water change in between), going to transfer it back to the 80g with the rest of them today.
I'm glad to here it David. I was thinking that you may not have a case of HITH after all. I have seen clowns get some nasty scrapes from wedging themselves in tight spaces, especially driftwood and rocks. After looking at the pic again I was thinking it could just be some scrapes healing up? I can't imagine how you would end up with HITH as you seem to be taking very good care of your fish and loaches aren't particularly susceptible to HITH like cichlids are.
I was just looking at him now while doing a water change, and although there has been some improvement certainly isn't already healed, there are still noticeable pits in the forehead. It seems much happier being back with the pack though, and is eating well.
