How would they do in an SA/CA cichild tank?

Knowing how most cichlids are towards snails I'd say bad.

I'll imagine these filter feeders would flourish in a planted tank and not much else.

I do plan on getting some for a 150 gallon planted tank I want to setup in my living room and plumb the filtration to the basement.

I had mussels in a 10 gallon tanks with ghost shrimps for 3 months. I then moved them to a 20 gal tanks with goldfish and fathead minnows (the ghost shrimp had babies and thought the mussels would comptete for the same food) They have been in the 20 gal tank for 2 months and are alive and well.

cichild's are their know predators in the wild. I caught some in the lake I lice near and put them in one of my tanks. they lived for a while and are cool to watch and you can tell if they are alive! dead ones will stay shut all the time and never move. live ones have a "foot" that hangs out and filter feeds and it will suck it in every now and then. But I had them with my chiclide and he eventually ate all of them. Pretty cool little guys in my opinion.
