Ok guys I know the laws, or at least i though i did. To my knowledge this particular cat is illegal not only in the state of colorado, but the United States.

So does anyone want to explain why they are in fish stores all over the colorado denver/metro area? (this isnt exactly brand new. They started popping up in september)

Have they been popping up in other places in the US? Did the law change or something?

Nope...they're still illegal. Any pet shop carrying them runs the risk of fines and being shut down.

thats what i thought. Thanks ben. I guess i should make sure that the 4 petstores i know of, should know what they are doing.

I wondered where the pet stores get the walking catfish from....def not from Florida...

I got a lfs here I have told them several times they keep getting plants that are illegal I have showed them which plants they are and given them the scientific names and still see them in their store. Sorry I know this is kinda off topic, not catfish, but I don't think they even care.

The real problem is government do not educate us that walking catfish's illegal and no one tell us that except in Florida.

They are also in shops on the north east. This guy died on Jan 1 so you can skip the illegal stuff i do not have this fish any more. With that said i found this catfish to be a complete jerk, attacking anything and everything.I thought he might get along with my 16 inch wolf but he kept attacking the wolf until the wolf had enough and destroyed him.Even if they were legal i would never try another.
