Classic Cannister filters by eheim?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My pics don't show the entire canister but maybe these will be helpful.

This picture shows how I have my media installed and shows the intake Q.D. (or double tap valve) installed close to the bottom of the filter.

This pic shows the output Q.D. connected with a longer piece of hose to the top of the canister. I made this hose longer to make maintenance easier when priming the filter.

Everyone has a different way of configuring their filter but I find this method works best for me.

I just sucked on the outlet hose that is attached the spraybar until the canister starting filling up with water, then it should become pretty obvious that a syphon has started, then just attach the hose back to the spraybar and plug her in.

Place the canister in position beneath the water filled aquarium and put the intake pipe into the aquarium, making sure there are no loops or dips in the hose.

Place the output J-tube into position (without the spraybar attached) on the tank, making sure there are no loops or dips in the hose.

Open the Q.D. (double tap valves) on the intake & output hoses.

Suck on the end of the output J-tube to begin drawing water into the filter. You will hear the water entering the filter and air will be expelled from the output tube. Be sure to keep the output tube in the tank but hold it above the water level to allow the air to be completely evacuated from the filter canister.

Once the air is evacuated, connect the spray bar & secure it in position via the suction cups.

Plug the electrical cord into the wall outlet.

The filter should start pumping water INTO the aquarium.

Finally got it started lol added some microbe lift how long before they colonize the water temps 78 also added a decholorinator too.
