Was playing around with the lighting , this is the same fish just turned the 2 actinic bulbs.
I don't find the actinic flattering for an aro really eliminates the blues and holds but he was swimming down the line between the front white lights and the back actinic lights so his colour wasn't completely washed out by them.
His diet is pretty varried, I'm a big beliver that the nicest fish are kept hungry and given a varriety of foods.
I feed pellets sparingly and never buy the same type two times in a row. I offer pellets like treats just a few pellets every other day or so unless he looks particularly hungry in which case I'll toss a couple more. Every few weeks he gets a feast of chopped seafood, I'll grab whatever's fresh and on sale chop it up and let him have a couple big meals.
On top of that He gets the occasional snack of meal worms and crickets and when in season I give him the odd meal of earthworms from the garden , junebugs , grasshoppers etc .
The only thing I don't feed is live feeders , except when I have batches of fry/juvies from other breeding projects that need to be culled .
