I personally appreciate his intent of this thread and do not feel like he was out of line or "Stalkerish". Dame is a word you don't here very often, but then again it may be because in America, we can't exactly say we are the most refined when it comes to social relations. The title is old as time and one which is honored and hard earned in other cultures. To even be associated with that - even if only through one individuals eye's is
flattering. Choosing to acknowledge the women on this forum who contribute, and have more to offer than a pretty smile or provacative avatar is something I respect. Though not every woman on here might be known, that is their choice and not the fault of anyone, so to say it is discriminating, well I just don't see how that is possible. And he never said "These three are the best on MFK", he simply threw out a few he considered worthy of his point. It was left open for all to insert those who they respected, or admired in the hobby for not only their helpfullness, and intelligence, but also for their personalitly as a whole.

Whether or not the thread is "brilliant" or "Stupid" will vary by opinion, but I think anyone with more than two brain cells to rub together will see that this thread was not meant to pick up on, gossip about, or otherwise unecessarily advertise these individuals. It was created to show appreciation to those who other members felt deserved to be acknowledged.
Honestly, we have "How popular are you" threads, "Rate the avatar" threads and others which are essentially pointless, yet people offer their opinions to those. This is no different, aside from the fact that this was done out of genuine respect, and pure intent.

Personally, I feel like there are several women on here who I respect
Anne
Melissa
Ash
.... The list could go on. I appreciate what they offer, the fact that they are real, not out to flaunt themselves and fill threads with useless replies. I love the fact that they are educated, well spoken and well rounded women who are passionate about this hobby and bring more to the table than some others.

A very classy response! I think classy I guess before I'd think to use the word dame, but to each his own!

Worded perfectly!;)

Thank you Emi! I knew you would understand what it was all about, instead of buying into the propaganda (Oh NOES! He's using old man language again!! :grinno: )

Terra, I read your replies in the thread and I greatly appreciate it.

Cichlaguapote, I forgot to mention, it's a brave act to swim against the tide, I have a lot of respect for you! Thanks for understanding my point and being honest with how you felt.

I have to laugh man, because a) the thread is stupid, b) when someone makes a stupid thread, they need to learn to just stop.

That's where I disagree with you spizz, because you're wrong about the intent of the thread.

I do take offense to being called a 'creepy stalker' because first of all, I've actually talked to these people I mentioned, even just through the forum, but I would say I've gotten to know their character somewhat and I thought it would be a way to show respect. I was hoping more people would want to show respect for the people they've gotten to know here, that's all. As the informed members have already posted, "Dame" is a title of respect. I think it's funny how quickly ignorance escalates to disrespect.

Love connection? Not quite. I wasn't hitting on anyone, and wasn't expecting anyone else to. Had I posted along the lines of "Post who are teh uber hottiez of mfkizzle!!" yeah, that would've been sad and pathetic, and IMO creepy. Some people are like that though, I wouldn't disrespect. Just isn't me.

Also, this thread wasn't drawing any lines that haven't been drawn already. You cannot nominate a woman unless you already know she is a woman, which she herself would've disclosed to you.

I took your post in good fun, as well as the others. Yeah, I talk like an old man, so? Judge me, hate me, I couldn't care less. There are a serious number of members on this board who come from every corner of the U.S. and we're global too don't forget. Because of this fact, the board is inherently a melting pot of personalities.

I'm not going to stop using the word 'dame' because it caught flak on this thread. Hell, I'll still use all the words that most people my age don't use, because I am me. I don't care to fit in to any group. I've always preferred to be true to myself and walk alone if I have to, than to sell out and walk amongst millions.

And to be honest, I was surprised you were giving me a hard time about one little word. I'm not judging you on your decision to do so, I thought it was funny and it made me second guess what I do when I'm bored on the board, but still I was surprised.
===========================================================

To everyone else, I was really surprised at how big this thread was by the time I came home haha it's pretty funny and actually turned out 1,000x better than if people had just gone along with the idea.

I appreciate the effort of those that went with the idea, and the ones who just made it fun in their own way.

Thanks for a good laugh everybody :D

 Do what you want, but it seems you waited for support and have now turned this into a me against you thing.....I never "disrespected" you and I'm damn sure not ignorant. Glad people came to bat for you, but I still think the thread whether named "dame" "chick" "lady" fox" "trim" whatever is still dumb.....I do not make up the majority however...So I guess I'll continue to do as you suggested (on my own) and swim against the tide:D I started off by saying you were cool....I meant that.....Just like I mean everything else I said....

Well spizz, I'll be honest, I can see how it would seem that way, and I knew some would take it that way. Fact is, that I've been at work all day. I had a little time to get in a response this morning (that admittedly, I caved in to the negative feed back at first) but while I was at work I chose not to read the thread until I came home, and I was thinking about why I caved. It upset me that I agreed with you at first, because I realized I didn't.

Whether or not anyone agreed with the point of this thread, my response would not have been any different, because that response was to the direct post of yours that I quoted, not to an accumulation of people supporting me.

I have not turned this into a 'me against you' thing, all I did was address incorrect statements you made about the purpose and affect of this thread.

Complementing me, while stating how what I posted sucks, does not mean your statement is not disrespectful.
