The thing is even if this is a great turt to work with(small, virtually bullet pruff, relatively normal care, easy to bred if the female doesant rip the male´s head of that is
I simply think that there are many more apealling things that I could buy with much less than half of that money
In the end the decission is up to you Miguel, but if you ask me,a 35 euro stink pot Sternotherus odoratus is as or more apealingMiguel;2207587; said:The price is 500 Euros, not 3000.
Uff I said 3000euro because that is how much they go for on kingsnakeI think we both agree that is insane
Oh and they start at that price
500 is much more decent for such rare turts but still to expensive for me
Secondly, they are exactly ( in small ) the type of turtles I want to try to specialize in.
With 13 snappers, softshells and matas you are in the rigth wayBut yes much more easier to keep, fed and clean
All my info points in the sense that those guys haven't been around for years and years..
It´s true
I did not say I was going to do it. Just wanted to hear your views on this....
Well Miguel if that is important for you go ahead and furfill your destinyYoull become one of the handfull of guys that have this critters
Dont forget to post some pics on your favorite web site

Boy their are starting to be ofered at a lower price than I espected, there is another breeder at kingsnake that from time to time putts ads whit animals much more expensiveVicious_Fish;2208033; said:Great little turtles Miguel. I saw a wild one when I was in Belize a few years ago. They have some pretty nice colors for being a musk turtle, they kind of remind me of a colorful Loggerhead Musk. But I honestly can say I don't know a great deal about these guys other then the fact they can be kept like Staurotypus Salvinii. I love the fact that they don't get "huge". I think they max out at about 6-7 inches SCL. I have never seen them offered for sale before except on theturtlesource. I think if one was to purchase one, you might as well get a pair (seeing how they're so uncommon) and try your chances at breeding them. But that's just me!

Still think is to much for a mud turtcoura;2207564; said:Well Miguel if you want to know what I think, I think the price they are being ofered rigth now is a complete and total rip-off, or as we say in our casa home a "roubalheira"The thing is even if this is a great turt to work with(small, virtually bullet pruff, relatively normal care, easy to bred if the female doesant rip the male´s head of that is
) I think that there is nothing so special about this turtle or diferent from other mud and musk turts to make them worth so much. If you ask me S. triporcuatus is a much more amazing animal. I mean this turt has no brigth color, specialy strange forms or amazing behaviors. They are not even endangered for peat sake(in that a species being rare generaly makes their price going up, even if this guys have a rater restrictive distribucion on central america). But they are litle mean things
no doubt about that. Would I take a free one? You bet
Would I pay say 100euro for one? Yup
Would I pay 3000 euro for it? No way
I simply think that there are many more apealling things that I could buy with much less than half of that money
In the end the decission is up to you Miguel, but if you ask me,a 35 euro stink pot Sternotherus odoratus is as or more apealing
