clay pots

I always soak mine for 4 days and rinse plenty then use a flat head screwdriver to the inside corner then strike it from the top this pops out the bottom. And from there I can easily split it in half. Although lately I have gotten over the clay pots look and got some more fake log caves and that cheesy crap my cichlids seem to like it and its easier on the eyes.

Take a fresh clay pot and put it in some water and watch the pH. I'd be interested to know if anything is affected!

They should bother the PH too much if at all.

I used a jigsaw to cut my pots in half. For holes just a normal hole saw. I found like stated above to just soak the pots a few days in advance and it makes it much easier when the material is softer and not as brittle.
