cld or hot water after a water change?!

In the summer I run straight cold. My water is about 70 degrees this time of year. I just do it slowly so it bring the temp down slow. My 240 went from 84 to 82 with a 50% change Monday. In the winter I still use a lot of cold. I figure when it rains, it isn't the same temp as a river or lake.......

I'm not a fan of using hot water out of the cylinder for my fish. If the tap water is too cold (it's about 9C at the moment in the middle of winter, so can still do small changes with out pre-heating it) I'll fill a barrel and heat it with an aquarium heater to warm it, or even just the ambient room temp.
