Yeah i found apple snails in my experience were only good for one thing... eating all the plants you painstakingly placed in your tank...

For cleanup crew, some type of freshwater prawn might help? but it will also depend on what stock you have in your tank as you don't want the shrimp picking off your fish either... otherwise, ammano shrimp may help a little?

I have peacocks and mbunas and a red zebra you know the usual mix. So if I added shrimp they would likely be eaten in a matter of minutes and if I'm lucky hours. I thought about lobsters and crabs but I doubt the effectiveness of them at eating algae and picking up foods. I don't want to add a pleco because of their effects on water quality. I added a siamese algae eater and he is so amazing at eating with the fish-fish food so he's too full to eat algae and only grazes occasionally.
