hey so i have a sump on my 180 but debris still goes in the tank.. i have a sump with a drip plate and i put that white cheap filter foam/floss stuff that feels like cotton from a lfs and it lets stuff bypass it.... so i was wondering what i can put on my drip plate to make sure no debris by passes it.... can i lay down a bunch of filter socks or do those have to hang ..also i heard about this poret filter http://www.swisstropicals.com/Poret Filter Foam.html and has anybody used that on a drip plate and is it any good thank you

Cut out a filter socks and laid it on the drip plate

Just buy bulk rolls of filter padding and change it once a week or 2
no but that crap lets debris go through it im looking for something beterr

The padding with the pink and white instead of blue/white filters finer particles out. It clogs up a lot quicker though. I'd try that and make sure when you lay it on the drip try, you cut it nice and tight so the the water has no choice but to go thru the material. I use filter socks on my tank and I still have lots of debris sitting in the sump.

I use the pink/white bulk stuff and I put a layer on top of the drip plate, and also a layer below the drip plate to help with bypass

i cheap internal filter would do the job

I cut a fine foam sheet to fit the drip tray. I lay the foam in first and cover with felt from hobby lobby........
felt plugs up quickly until aquarium water is clean..just rinse and reuse both pads.....now I can go a week w/o cleaning pad

Get something to cover the intake of the pump like a wire strainer, and get a bunch of ghost shrimp, you will never have detritus again. Just doesn't work of they all get sucked into the pump, the last time I used them i had a sponge between my wet dry and where the water entered my pump and the shrimp cleared it all up in weeks and were breeding in my sump

were can i buy this pink and white bulk stuff i use just a white pad thing that sucks and holds debris very weakly,
