when using razor blades always try to scrape in on direction. going back and forth without wiping the blade off constantly will drag the grime over the glass and scratch it
Thanks for the suggestions guys. After about three hours of scraping with a razor blade I have the worst of it off of one. There is still a little residue left but I'm gonna try some vinegar. I can see why the lfs didn't want to pay somone to clean them. But for the price I'm not gonna complain. Doubled number of tanks I have and I didn't have to touch my fund for the 100gal or bigger tank I want to get. I'm going to try to post pics when I get finished cleaning and have them set up.
Thanks again.
hey how come your not done yet whats taking so long LOL ,I swear that is the worst job to do took a free tank once couldnt even see thru the glass was used for salt water i scrubbed for a day before i got it clean..
Well I'm finally finished cleaning all three tanks. Just wanted to thank you all agian for the advice and to let you know that there are pics of these tanks in my gallery. Can't figure out how to resize pics to post them here sorry. I also built a multi tank stand for them that they are setting on along with a ten gallon. I just finised this weekend so all that are in the tanks are a few guppies to help get the cycle going. I built the stand all by my self btw, so girls don't be afraid to tackle a diy project. Thanks agian!
I used straight toilet bowl cleaner on an empty tank infested with dried algae and mineral deposits. Took EVERYTHING off. I rinsed that thing for a half an hour after that, and no casualties. I didn't have to scrape anything!
