I tried putting some large driftwood in my 125 and it didn't work. It was not waterlogged so the pressure was pretty extreme to try and get it underwater :(

Put it in the tank and ride it out. Water changes like a mofo, maybe some chem filtration if it's not too much of a hassle for you. Getting rid of the tannins just takes time...sometimes lots of time.

i don't care about tannins. it's other stuff i worry about. it's fine soaking in the tub for a while. water changes on a 300 get expensive if you're doing enough to keep tannins out. no point...
