I bought a tank from a guy who apparently never, ever, prolly didnt even think about cleaning the glass. There are water spots that just will not go away. I have tried windex, water, microfiber towels, perfect glass (another glass cleaner), all with no results. It is really bugging me because they only really show up when I am taking photos. So, does anyone have a suggestion? The tank is up and running with fish so nothing too caustic.

there is this special stuff to get off calcium build up an not harm the fish becuase you cant use something like clr cuz it will kill your fish when you fill the tank

Boiling hot water is what I've always used for empty tanks but since yours is up and running get the water as hot as you can stand it and pour it into a spray bottle.Spray away and wipe with one of those brillo type pot scrubbers.

what is this special sauce? The tank is full and I believe the spots are on the outside of the glass. I think if the were inside they would have dissolved and the tank has been full for years (other then when I moved it approx 8 hrs)

Should I be worried about the boiling water melting the spray bottle? What if I just dipped the sponge in boiling water, taking care to obviously not scald myself? Just curious.

if its on the outside get some clr and a razor blade just be carefull not to get any in the tank

yup if its on the outside clr but make sure none hits the tank

another thing you might want to see if you can get it concentrated citric acid would do wonders
