Cleaning gravel that has been outside

If you can smell it you need to rinse more.

that would be a never ending task for me, since our tap water always smells bleachy.

I've used gravel that sat outside in a pile for 5 or so years. rinsed it, dried it, then put it in the tank. no problems. if it had been in a bucket with standing water I'd bleach it, drain it, rinse and drain twice and stick it in the tank. dechlorinator will take care of what you've missed but I'm willing to bet that the chlorine in most city water would be worse at that point.

Any Idea on how many ppm's the chlorine is in your water? The max allowed is 4ppm. I do smell the chlorine in my water occasionally. Usually, when they flush the system or they are treating after heavy rains. Buts that's always for a day or two. I would check with your water company and ask.
