actually all you need to do i get large gravel that they can fit in their mouth. Although my turtles can fit the gravel in their mouth, they are smart enough to know that is not food and they just drop it. sand is more dangerous if you gravel is large. if they eat to much sand thell either cut up their intestines or clog up their throat or stomach.
