When you are cleaning your cichlid tanks do you fill the whole back in that they dig? I filled it in once and my Trimac re-dug it overnight.

I always clean my gravel with the syphon so they re-dig their pits all the time. I just like to make sure I clean it really well I guess. they seem happy, and it means they spend less time chasing too.

Same here, i fill em. But it only lasts for a few hours, then my jag has the tank looking however he wants again.

i only fill them in if there is a big pile of sand next to it. if they spread it flat, i'll leave it alone. i really just flatten the sand out while cleaning

7 out of 7 people fill them in so far ... ok, I don't feel bad now. Never thought of it as entertainment for them.

once I refilled my oscars' hole, and stuck a piece of chicken in at the bottom. I watched him redig it, and he was like "OH MY GOD!!!" when he found the chicken. It was fun to watch but now he digs holes everywhere looking for more

i always fill it when my dad has his cubans he filled them and they dag it out in littlerally 5 mins after putting back.
