hello every one this is my first post im new to the aqarium world an i found an awsome tank its 48 inches by 24 inches high by almost 36 inches wide i think .but it has a 2 inch hole drilled in the bottom for a filtration system . i can get the tank for 50 buck i can patch it with piece of glass an silicone correct . also the guy had a bearded dragon in it for 3 years can i get this tank clean or should i leave it alone . also how much is filtration for something like this going to cost me

Welcome to the forum.

You can do a couple of things for the drilled tank bottom.
1. silicone a piece of glass over it, as you mentioned.
2. put a bulkhead in it and cap of the bulkhead.

As for it being a reptile tank for some time, every case is different. Some times the heat lamps and dry air do a number on the silicone and other times it is OK. Even if the silicone is bad, resealing it is not hard(there are many threads on how/about it).

For filtration costs, that all depends on how much you want to spend.
A simple but very effective sponge filter plus an air pump to provide biological filtration will be less then $30-50. Combined with weekly water changes and cleaning this would be sufficient.

Some thing like a Magnum H.O.T. runs around $50-75.

AquaClear 110(very popular) are about $80.

The price is pretty much endless after that for filtration.

Vinegar works well to scrub down tanks to get rid of and left over stuff from the reptiles.

The big thing to think about is the thickness of the glass. If it was originally intended to be a terrarium, it could have thinner glass than what is needed in order to hold water.

thanks i was think like 120. ok what exact filter system do i need to run in this for fresh water . i looked up both of the above mentioned filters but the aqua is to small unless i run two of them an im not sure on the magnum hot i seen a couple different ones an the only one i seen that listed the tank size was for a 55 gallon tank

hello can i get an answer on the eheim 2217 i got a guy who runs a lfs an he said he could sell me one for 100 bucks . is tis enough filtration or do i need more
