I just changed from gravel to river rock's in my Goldfish tank and I was wondering if anyone else uses them and how do you vacuum them???? Thank-you.

river rocks from your lfs or from the river?

just algae scrub em occasionally. first wash them off to make sure particulates dont cloud your water

I did that. What I am talking about is when I do my weekly water changes and I vacuum the gravel. It is hard to vacuum river rock's and I was wondering if someone knew of an easy way. Thank you for your help I appreciate it. Have a good night.

Not really. A bigger gravel vac as in the part that goes in the water is wider than normal should work to an extent.

I used large river rock, some the size of an egg up to the size of a baseball. I actually use a python hose without the 'vacuum' end. I taped a dowel rod to the hose to keep it rigid, and the last 2 inches is flexible. It goes between and around the rocks and does a pretty good job.

Its more work than aquarium gravel, and slightly more work than sand, but not terrible, and I like the look.

Thank you so much for your help!!!!! I agree also, I love the look of the rock's!!! Im glad I switched. Have a great day!!!
