"cleanup crew"

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I second the flagtail idea...
holpos or CLs would work too.
pictus get to around 6" max, but i wouldnt call them a cleanup crew.

I've actually never seen a flag tail for sale in my area, ill have to look really good tomorrow at the LFS.

Thanks so much guys for the input :)

my LFS had one for sale in the display tank around 3" for 30 dollars, which is pretty good i´d say.

All of the suggested cleaners so far will produce mega nitrates. You might want to look for these guys:

Filament barbs won't eat algae, but they'll chow any stray crumbs of food.

thats what I have my columbian tetras for. not only are they bright blue with red fins but not a single scrap of food touches the floor with those 8 around.
I also find my flagtail to be very peaceful, he keeps out of the way of my cichlids and nobody ever bothers him

Leporinus will clean up things really nice and will even pick at algae, they are very interactive so thats a plus with a clean up fish. They are also a tough fish that will hold up good with your stock.

hmm so many options

Ive actually stayed away from leporinus cause ive heard they are quite aggressive and theres been quite a few cases of them killing their tankmates, even aggressive cichlids.
