Anyone who works, has worked in a LFS, or has heard these type of stories.. Please feel free to contribute!!

"This one time I had this sucker fish, and it got huge! Like this big!" (Holds up hands about a foot apart..)

"I bought one of those Jack Dempsey cichlids and it used to do the craziest things! It would pick up all the gravel and dig a big pit under my decoration! It would move all the gravel to one corner, and uproot the plants! He was SO Crazy!"

"I had this oscar fish once, and I would feed it goldfish.. I would feed it like a dozen at a time, and it would eat so many that it would have 1 still in it's mouth that would wiggle around! He was so huge like this big!" (Holds up hands about a foot apart.)

Cliche'?
I don't have an oscar, but my ARTC digs up the gravel and moves it from side to side in the tank, and uproots all ornaments. longest ornament has stayed in the gravel for 2 days.
no, its not very crazy. I dont know what compels it to do it, but its part of the fishs' bahavior, so I come to accept it.

I think Miles used cliche in the "a trite, stereotyped expression; a sentence or phrase, usually expressing a popular or common thought or idea, that has lost originality, ingenuity, and impact by long overuse" sense.
e.g. all jack dempseys move gravel, yours is not special; all oscars are greedy pigs, yours is not special; and all common plecs grow large, yours is not special.

How about: "My african cichlids are hella mean. They kill any other fish I put in there. They are meaner than piranhas! They are the toughest fish."

How bout when people say "I know" after everything you say...(and they don't know wtf)

"I have a huge tank." Largest size ever pointed to is 55, usually 29. I hear this one more often than any other other story. Except for, "My water has to be fine, it's clear."

how long can I keep these pacu in my 29g?

"All fish are friends with each other so why can't I have this Malawi with neons?"

"I'm tired of the algae, have you got a sucker? Does this mean I won't have to clean the tank ever again?"

"My Pirahna is having real trouble with his tankmates. I've tried him with goldfish, gouramis and silver sharks but none seem to survive for very long. Why is that?"

Me- "How big is your tank?"
C-"260 litres"
Me- "How often are you doing water changes?"
C- " Every 6 weeks. I take out one jug and then put new water in"

These are all true, there are more but can't remember.

Can this arowana live in my 20 gallon tank?

can i buy those pacu for my gouramis to have friends?

those tetras are pretty!can i keep them withchiclids?

is there a sucker fish that can clean my tank up so i don't have to clean it?

can i put this ciclid in my betta bowl?

these are only some of the stories i have had

people these days!:D

"My oscar is insane. He attacks everything. The heater, the glass, the rocks and even me! There is something definitely wrong with my fish."

"I felt bad for keeping my fish captive so I let it go in the lake near my house."

"I use feeder goldfish as bait when fishing. They work really good and the're cheap."

"Whats a water change?"

"I've got a massive tank, its 4 feet long! Almost to big for a pacu!"
The feeder goldfish as bait, is resonable, like as a food source I guess. They wind up as food anyway.
