"I buy feeder barbs but my oscar keeps eatting my neons, why?"
"I have a problem with my aquarium and people on the internet told me to get my water tested at a L-F-S, I don't know what that is so I just came here"
"My Oscar doesn't fit in my tank anymore and I think its cruel, can I swap it for a smaller one?"
"I bought a sucker fish and all it does is stay on the glass all day, is there something wrong with it?"
"I have the biggest Oscar ever, its a little smaller then yours"
The worst thing I have ever heard, a guy came into the fish store with his girlfriend showing off with all his "knowleadge". They were looking at a big Clown Loach we have instock (12" long and he is stunning as). The loach was doing his thing and laying on his side in his piece of PVC pipe.
Girlfriend;
"look, he's sleeping"
Boyfriend;
"Thats a catfish, and it looks like its dieing"

Please excuse the name. I need to change my user name. I am not an extremely experienced fish owner but atleast I have tried to educate myself in the last year that I have been keeping fish. You must have patience for the newbies and educate them because there is too much mis-information about fishkeeping and it comes from many sources. I have actually gotten some of my bad advice from some fish stores. When I first started out, I told the man in the store that my tank was running for two weeks with just dechlorinated water and he said that should be fine with my choices of fish. That day and I added six fish. Mind you,only two of which were danios. The others were mollies and tetras!
All died except the danios of course and then I went online and got a rude awakening about all of this.
It happens, people assume that fish keeping is the easiest thing to do until you actually try to keep fish other than goldfish.

This thread isn't about paying out people due to having less knowleadge/experiance. Even experianced hobbyests can make it on the list, the guy who told me his Oscar is biggest ever, alomst as big as mine breeds discus and is by far better at fish keeping then myself. Its just a stupid thing to say, everyone does it. And come on, "I buy feeder barbs but my oscar keeps eatting my neons, why?", this is not a newbie statement, its a stupid statement. So please don't take these sorts of threads as digs at newbies as they come and go all the time just for a bit of fun. It doesn't take much effort to find a thread where people are paying out the LFS employees, esp at petsmart.

Ha! This is by far my fave, hear it almost every day. Except people hold their fingers about 6-8 INCHES apart. *sigh*

My Red Devil-Oscar- Pike - etc etc kills everything that goes in with it.
I dont need to do water changes, I top off the water when it goes down in the tank.
How do I stunt this fish?
I can keep an oscar in a 20 , it will just grow to the size of the tank.
The background wont stay taped to the inside of my tank and my fish are stuck behind it.
I knew you said the giraffe cat would get huge but I really didnt think it would it.
I can pet my Piranha , I've had him for a year now and he likes me. **Uttered two weeks before said "friendly" fish removed a large chunk of flesh from owners thumb**
The above ^ and the other statements already listed and surely a few I've forgotten have made me scratch my head or laugh out loud..
