Does anyone know any way to purchase some climbing perch (and the legality of it) . . . I know they are an invasive species in some areas, but I was reading about them and couldn't help but be fascinated by their unique abilities as a labyrinthe fish. Does anyone know anything about keeping this fish in captivity and how to get them?

is a Anabas testudineus thanks

come on i know someone knows something

My LFS had one a while back, but they have since gone out of business..

I asked him if he had any Climbing Perch, assuming I would get the 'Spotted Climbing Perch' in the Ctenopoma.. He led me over to the tank, and educated me on the real Climbing Perch. Cool fish, but I would have no idea where to obtain them..

The story of how they got their name is really cool, too..

ya i heard about how they got there names to, i want some

i told you not too many people know much about these;)
ya ya shut up

I have never kept them, they are fair sized and plain looking and are more popular overseas than in the US, they are apparently easy to keep as they tolerate a wide range of hardness and pH, as well as temps and low O2 levels, they are also easy to feed and will take inverts, small fish, and carnivore pellets. I have seen a few for sale over the years but do not know anyone who carries them currently.
