Last night before bed I heard something in the other room make a noise, I figured it was a tree branch scrapping off the window or something. This morning I come out to feed the large tank and about 10 minutes after they start eating I hear the un-mistakable sound of a fish flapping around. I look under the stand to see a very dry (and dead looking) 7 inch long pleco. I have glass over the top but there is a small gap where the glass makes room for the output tube to the sump, and that's where he jumped.

Well I got him back into the water and held him near the water flow... soon enough he started to come back around... and now I'm just hoping for a full recovery.

What I find unbelievable is how long he was out of the water without dying! He must have been on the hardwood floor for at least 6-8 hours!

that's crazy! i've seen pictures of people holding plecos out of the water in their hands, and i always thought that was strange, but nothing like your story! glad he's ok :)

river monsters is the ****.... FISH ON!!

I enjoy hearing Wade say, "Fish on!"

Update: He suffered a bacteria/fungal infection on his dorsal fin, which cleared up after roughly 3-4 days of adding a small dose of salt. Now he's back to 100% and is very active again. I still can't believe how close I was to having posted an obituary here... seal up every little gap!

And River Monsters is the best :-)
