hi everyone
i was actually away for a week and when i came back one of my aros had developed clouded eye. so as i had read on a few of the older thread that this can be treated by making water changes. so i did that.it has been only a week since i have returned and i have changed the water twice.all the other fishes and the other aro is also fine.but my aro has stopped eating and this is what is concerning me.i am scared that it might become weak and die. what should i do? how long will it take for the clouded eye to heal?
thank you

maybe 2 weeks just keep doing water changes often

Should be fine with water changes but id keep an eye on him if he's not eating. That's never good.

It is likely the clouded eye is from an injury, this many have stressed the aro enough to cause the eating issues(especially if the injury happened during a feeding). One of my silvers fasted for two weeks after it was mistakenly bitten on the head during a feeding.

Just keep up the proper care, you can also add aquarium salt(1 tablespoon per 5g of water) to aid in the eye healing. Salt may not be good for some other fish, so look into it regarding the tankmates.

i think i will post a picture of the eye. at present the tankmates are:
1 clown knife
1 more silver aro
1 gg
2 syno catfishes
1 florida gar
the tank is 180gallons
is it ok if i add aquarium salt.will it effect the other fishes.the eye looks really bad and i am getting a feeling now that my aro is not able to see properly.can this be the case?
is making 25% water changes every couple of days enough or i need to remove more water?
thank you

Most aquarium fishes can tolerate the salt, but I am not sure on a few of your fish. Hopefully someone else will chime in.

With the WCs, I would get a test kit and do enough to keep the nitrate levels under 10ppm. It may be a good idea to separate it from the rest of the tankmates.

i am a bit reluctant when it comes to removing aros because of their jumpy behavior and my aro is well over 11 inches.

Better then leaving it at the mercy of it's tankmates.

if the symptoms seem to worse you can look into a general antibiotic, like melafix.
as most of the time the cloudy ness comes from a bacteria infection in the eye usually from a scratch or bad water. given time the fish immune system will heal it but a antibiotic will give it a little assistance.
