Cloudy after water change

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
kind of off topic but you mentioned using the hose for part of it and there is chlorine in there right? is this an issue for fish? does dechlor work?

I just did a water change to my tank and this morning I noticed the water was cloudy. It wasn't too bad but its noticeable....

I did everything like a I normally do, but when it came to filling up my tank I used my hose for a portion of the fill up, and then finished off with the water from my sink...

I tested the hose water for PH and ammonia levels and everything checked out...

any advice on how to fix the issue?

Whats your filtration like?

It's not a mini-clycle or bacterial bloom, water changes do not affect bacterial colonies they do not live free floating in the water they live on surfaces (mainly in your filter)

what has probably happend is there was an unusualy large amount of dissolved gasses in the water from your tap and this forms microbubbles in the water which are bubbles of air so tiny they appear to cloud the water don't worry this will go away in a few hours at most.

Why does it always seem that no one in the piranha section seems to have any understanding of of concepts established as fact in the "setup and filtration section" years ago ? No offence to anyone it's just an observation.

This is a much better explenation - guess I should left out "mini-cycle effect" as my point was when an effect that occurs when 2 varying tempatures meet - my bad

lol this reminds me when you mix to varying tempuratures microbubbles can be formed because water has different saturation points at different tempuratures (higher temp less can be dissolved in it) so if you added warm water to your tank the dissolved gasses in your tank water will come out of solution and form microbubbles.

well glad to say that the following day the water became crystal clear and all my levels are great...thanks for all the info...I guess my only issue is that I have a thin layer of oil build up?

But people say its protein build up?
