I sold a 12" channa barca to a chap a couple of weeks ago.

The guy has messaged me today saying that the eyes are cloudy and from the pics looks like a cloudy layer on the outer part of eye over pupil. He seems to think it is turning blind as it doesnt see food infront of it it just senses them

I have not heard of this in channa before. Is it a thing with them and if anyone has had a similar issue did you cure it and if so how?

Thanks

If both eyes go cloudy at the same time it's normally an indicator for bad water parameters, like for example ammonia.

Thats usually the case but the params are good , I'm wondering as its a channa there may be another reason. Its been in 27degree water for a few months and wondering if that can be an issue for them and maybe the water being too clean

27 c for a few months should not be a problem.
There is also nothing like too clean water.
in the snakehead world there can be.
When I used to breed Orientalis many moons ago and other channa they fared better in tanks where the water was almost never changed so the more I have read about this cloudy eye in channa a lot of feedback is suggesting "too clean" water and higher temps

Never changed water does not necessarily mean it's less clean. Plants can consume nitrates etc.

But if your fish are better in old water there is simply something in the new water that doesn't suit them. For example Chlorine, high pH etc. or other parameters that change over time in a running tank.
