Melafix, no, but if things get worse, I will do so.

As far as melafix goes,I dont like to use as much as it says... the fish don't seem to like it when I do so i only use about half the dose and I add less as I go... Also IMO the other med I mentioned worked better and no side effects for the fish, only thing is it does turn the water red but to no bad effect to the fish or biomedia... I would probably try the melafix for a few days and see if that works though and then a good WC!! GL

I want to use melafix before the other one because I know I can get melafix nearby. I'd rather that than searching for that other one for ages, in which time the eye rots or something.

Do a good vacume of your substrate, use that time to do a good water change , then add in the melafix and a airstone or lower the waterlevel to make some splashing to prevent heavy breathing. Should clear it right up and prevent future infections if it is from dirty gravel conditions (not saying it is )

there is plenty of surface movement trust me. there wouldn't be any problem with dissolved oxygen levels.

Any progress?

She's still eating, How long should it take to heal? Will it always remain cloudy? Scratched eye, well frolicking.
African Cichlid,

It may stay that way. I've had a few over the years that had eye injuries that never went back to completely clear.
