Make sure your water parameters are good. I recently acquired a jardini that was all f'd up, both eyes clouded over, swimming at a 45 degree angle. That was about 4 weeks ago, as of now both eyes have cleared completely and now swimming at a 25-30 degree angle.

I used melafix, epsom salt and heated the water to about 85-86 degrees. The only thing I noticed is one of his eyes, the right eye's pupil is smaller now. Also his eyesight seems a little off, so I'm hoping with a longer treatment he will pull thru.

I asked around some old timers that raised aro's and they said the samething, continue the treatment of melafix, salt and raise the temperature to around 84-86. It may take anywhere from 2 weeks up to 2 months. Just be patient and observe the aro.

Here's a link to determine the amount of salt to add.

If possible put the aro in a quarantine/hospital tank. This way it'll be easier to treat.

Best of luck!

How's the treatment going so far?

I would do water changes every 3 days for a while. I read that it is due to a high amonia content in the water. And if very bad the eye can be lost. And yes be prepared for it to last for a few weeks. Good luck with it.

hope he gets better soon,

when a fish gets cloudy eyes its usually a sign that the fish is stressed. This fits in nicely because of the power failure and the low temperatures the tank reached. I would expect your fish to bounce back from this in no time.

hmmm...10 days and no reponse from aro ahoy...wonder if that aro is still alive and kicking?

Also, PH swing will effect the eyes of the aro's. Too acidic, the poor bugger's eyes clouds up and he/she starts rubbing the eyes on things in the tank.

I believe that A pH that is too high or low causes cloudy eye because the membrane over the eye actually gets burnt (much the same as your skin would if it was dipped in acid or an alkaline solution just not as severely), It could even be Chlorine burns. But if it was temp like I believe and the fish has survived the warming up process then I about 99% sure it will live. not a 100% because other things might kill it anyway and then ill look silly;) .
