I have had a saltwater tank for about 4 months now and as of about a month ago the water started turning cloudy. I keep up on cleaning the tank (10% water change each week). All water tests come out nearly perfect. The protein skimmer also seems to be working just fine (it gets emptied 2x a day). I am wondering if there are any drops or dissolving tablets (saltwater safe) I could put into the tank to help with this problem. Or maybe you could just give me some pointers on keeping the tank clean. See my signature below for my specific tank and fish information.

Thanks in advance for your input,

Squiddy

there are certain chemicals you can add to clarify your tank
seachem makes "clarity" but i would try to find a reason behind this cloudly bloom

Can it be just the food you are using? Are you putting in to much, or is there some rotting food left in the subtrate? Like did you ever put in something for the hermit crab to eat and it just got burried in the subtrate?

Thanks for the input. I never thought of that one. I didn't think I was overfeeding them but I suppose it is possible. I put in about four gold fish a day and they are eaten by the two groupers and the trigger. Then I also drop in two frozen cubes of either brine shrimp or carnivorous formula each day. Is that too much?

To answer Miles' question... I have live sand for the substrate.

Thanks again for the info.

Since you said your water tested fine just leave it alone and dont feed them for a few days. The tank should go back to normal quickly as you already have an established filter system.
