finally after stabilizing the PH in my tank(all it took was a 50% waterchange and it's been 7.0 or so for 4 days now) the tank is still cloudy. Its still a new tank so i was thinking it might be cycling. My filter setups are Aquaclear 300 and a AquaClear 200 and the tank is a 68gallon.

The filters werent cleaned so when i put them on the new tank there was already bacteria formed on the sponge inserts.. I was running the carbon bags up until yesterday when i pulled them out and replaced them BioMax bio rings, this stuff is supposed to be good.

The tank is probably just cyclying and im worrying for nothing. What do you guys think? If you need more info before you can give me your opinions just ask.

thanks

I too am having a problem with my 55g tank and cloudy water, i waited 2 weeks before i got any fish, had it up and running in that time, added 2 Clown Loaches, then a week later added 2 3in Oscars and it has been like a month and my water still is cloudy!!! I do 15-20% water changes once a week because the Oscars eat alot and make a little mess just about every 3 hours!! Love those little guys. I have added drops to no effect, what am i doing wrong? Did i not wait long enough for fish, add to many, or will it clear up, it has been like almost 2 months of cloudy water and i have moved the clowns out of the tank so now only Caster and Pollux are in the Tank. CAN some one PLZ help me out! Have a great day

I have been into this hobby for years and have never had this problem. I have never waited to add fish , i usually throw some stress coat and cycle in the tank and add the fish right away.. I have never lost fish doing this and the tanks were always clean. Its a very weird problem. I just set my g/f's new tank up the other day for her RedDevil and her tank is crystal clear, never got cloudy.. mine tank is just being a *****.

Howdy,

For how long has it been running now?

Gray, green or other color cloudiness?

Wow, It's very rare to hear of anyone with success with adding fish right away and not having to wait for the cycle. Usually some people throw in some of the established gravel or filter material that carries the benificial bacteria and still sometimes the fish don't even make it.
Lucky You!

well im not lying about it..i have always added cycle to the tank, stresscoat and put the fish in.Maybe its becuase the fish i have.. i have always had rugged fish ( piranhas and Snakeheads) they're probably not as sensitive to off water parameters as other fish.

the cloudiness is grey.

Oh.. ok. Yeah, those are some really hardy strong fishes.

I started the very first tank I owned the nite I bought it with some neon tetra to help cycle it did this for a month and ajusted it along the way to suit south american cichlid's . gave the neon's to a friend who had a community tank...
