I've had this tank for about 3 months now. And ever since, I have been doing a weekly 20% water change and gravel vac. Anyway I recently did my water change and gravel vac and within a few hours I notice that my peacock bass were all dark colored sitting on the bottom and extremely stressed. I was really worried that they weren't going to make it through the night! The next morning I breathed a sigh of relief when I noticed they were still alive and acting almost completely normal. I did notice, however, that the tank water was extremely cloudy. It was filled with a white haze that almost prevents me from seeing from one end of the tank to the other. I was freakin' pissed because prior to this water change my water was crystal clear. I didn't do anything different from what I have been dong for the past few months and this BS happens. What the hell happened??!!

check you parameters... maybe a ammonia spike?

Before we can give you any advice we need the usual readings for AMMONIA, NITRITE and NITRATE. Then we need your tank size, stocking, filter. It could be a multitude of things. Your whole paragraph could be summarised to "my water is cloudy", because I got nothing else from it that I could help you with...

I know that my aro tank, the pH gets pretty low, when I do a water change it can cloud the water for an hour or two from the difference in pH. Check your parameters.

Your water treatment facility could have possibly increased their concentration of chloramine for some reason, resulting in an ammonia spike as your water conditioner broke down the chloramine when you did the water change. This would account for the signs of distress in your fish, as well as the cloudiness due to a bacterial bloom as your biofilter adjusted to the increased concentration of ammonia.

My fish are acting fine, but is the cloudy water harmful to my fish?

it could be potentially, it may be a bacteria bloom. i would highly recommend answering all the previous members questions. then we can really put our finger on the problem.

the questions asked repeatedly ........

Its certainly not good for them. I believe you somehow damaged your BB in your last water change that resulted in an ammonia spike. Ammonia spike resulted in mass bacteria everywhere. Either way its not good for fish.
You need to test your water. Ammonia and nitrates could be very high right now.
