Cloudy water from new gravel

This reminds me of when my girlfriend setup her first tank a couple months ago 
I helped her get everything she needed but I couldn't stay (because of work) when she put it all together. Boy did she flip out when she added water to the tank and it was cloudy for a few hours! 
I get this call she's crying because she thinks she destroyed something and of course i was on my cell in a bad location so the call wasn't real clear (thats always good!)....
anyway, situation got fixed... she learned that it happens and she wasn't at fault. It was funny to me at the time.
