Hello everyone,

I have a 125 gallon tank that has been up since December and is established, there is no ammonia, nitrates, etc. as these are checked on almost a weekly basis.

I have two filters set up on the tank, an Emperor 400 and a Tetra EX70. The water flow out of the Tetra was extremely low and so I changed both of the media cartridge one day. Two days later I changed one of the media cartridges in the Emperor and the other media cartridge two days after.

I noticed my water getting cloudy right before changed my Tetra media cartridge. After I noticed that did not help clear the water up I tried doing a quarter water change and I have been leaving the lights in the tank off when I'm at work to see if that helps.

The results of that were unsuccessful and the water appears to clear up some days but then get worse others. Is there any way I can clear up my tank water and keep it clear? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

sounds like a bacterial bloom .... small water changes every 2-3 days and using PRIME as your de-chlor would be my recommendation ...others may know better:popcorn: you could try using STABILITY ,ALSO...

that is good ..PRIME detoxifies AMMONIA ,that is probably causing the cloudiness (thus creating bacterial bloom) the STABILITY SHOULD ADD BACTERIA..... this is needed to eat ammonia, and nitrites....:)

I looked up Chemipure and Purigen and was wondering if this would help or any opinions on it.

PURIGEN ,I think , wont help... I am not familiar with chemipure , but I am sure someone on here is familiar with it and will chime in...

one product that i found is smart start complete. it will literally cycle a brand new tank in two days. i didnt believe it either but i tried it and it really did do it. it is pretty affordable as well. buying it directly from the manufacturer, you can get a gallon for 65 bucks. as for the cloudy water, i am having the same exact problem in my 125. mine has been set up since november and has constant cloudy water. the next thing that i am trying is changing out all the gaskets and seals in my filter system. the tiniest air leak will not let out water but will let in air and cause micro bubbles that hang in the water and cause a cloudy look.

This has been going on for about a week. I mixed up my tests in this original post. I don't have a nitrate tester, I have a nitrite tester.
I have been testing the water every day since I have noticed the water getting cloudy and there have been no discernible spike in ammonia or nitrites. I would like to stay away from algeacides or any other chemical, the tank is in a basement and hasn't been exposed to light.
