Theres nothing you can do but just let the bacteria re-form on the cartridge. Never wash under tap water, wash in your last bucket of tank water to preserve the BB

Are my fish going to die?

Check for ammonia, if you have any, do daily waterchanges to keep it low. Moving some of your fish to an established tank for a while will help calm things down if you have ammonia.

As was said, never wash your filters in tapwater, last bucket of tankwater is good, but if you use a python to do your changes and don't end up with bucket water, Just fill a bucket up and treat it with your usual water conditioner to make it safe to clean your filters in.

I fixed the problem today.

1) I did a 100 percent water change.
2) I refilled the tank with water.
3) I dechlorinated the water.
4) I added aquarium salt.
5) I added cycle bacteria. (same thing I used to cycle the tank)
6) I cleaned the filter with the old tank water this time.
7) I used an agent that coalesced the free floating matter that clouded the tank into chunks that the filter could hold.

My water is clean and my fish are happy. If anyone has this kind of trouble with white, cloudy water, this is what I did.

Thats a good temporary solution but you have a good chance of cloudy water once the bacteria blooms.

Wow

i would suggest investing in a master test kit.
testing everyday until you have 0 ammonia 0 nitrites and under 20 nitrates ppm.
If ammonia, nitrite, or nitrate lvl is higher, 20% water change daily until parameters are met.

100% water changes are only a very temporary solution and a bad idea unless the water has been treated, warmed, and matched to the parameters of the old water first...
