I have a 55 gallon acrylic that has been set up for 7 weeks.

Filtration is provided by a Fluval 404. The baskets from bottom to top are foam media, ceramic, ceramic, charcoal. Also there is marineland filter that hangs off the back. I don't know model number but is uses 2 of the 'C' size filters, and it doesn't have biowheels.

Tank contains:

6 jack dempsey 1.5 to 2 inches
2 firemouth 2.5 inches
3 orange blotch 2.5 inches
3 comet feeders 3 inches
1 common plecto 10 inches

Food:
Wardley Algae tablets
Wardley chiclid flakes
top-fin small chiclid pellets
tetra-min freeze dried blood worms

I performed a 40 percent water change on Saturday which improved things, but it was back to cloudy 36 hours later. By cloudy I mean looking down the 4 foot length it's difficult to see out the other side.

HELP:help2:

What color is the cloudy water? Green, milky white color, etc?

Yes! That's what it looks like. Now that I think about it, I added the plecto 2 weeks ago, that probably tripled the waste output. Coincidently this is the first time I set up the tank without the undergravel filter.

So I'm thinking another 50 percent water change, put the undergravel filters in with powerheads, and set the powerheads up to 'suck' air making lots of bubbles.

Sound OK?

Thanks for the help. 2 40 percent waterchanges, the addition of a large airstone, and cut back on the feeding.

On Sunday, tank was crystal clear.
