Hi all, i have had this problem where my water appeared green almost like an algae breakout but I'm not convinced it was. I tried some algae fix which changed the water from green to a white cloud, I then did %30-50 water change a couple of days after only to find it became the same cloudyness a day after. I then tried some accuclear stuff which didn't seem to help only seems to make it cloudier.

Tank is an AR980 Aqua one. I'm almost and I have a red tiger oscar a green severum and pleco all adolescent. I'm thinking that maybe the standard filtration system in this tank may not be that great? I dont know I really just want crystal clear water again.

I have a big piece of drift wood in there with plenty of live plants. It's probably only 2 months old from new so still cycling.

Any help much appreciated.

What are your water parameters?
Ammonia:
Nitrite:
Nitrate:

If your tank is only about 2 months old, it may still be cycling (like you said). This might be a bacterial bloom. One of my tanks took nearly 3 months till I saw nitrate.

thanks guys, will have params tomorrow awaiting a new kit to turn up. Tanks is 215 litres or 55 us galons. It's not near a window it's in my garage / office which is failry dark. It has 3 lights 2 straight flouros and 1 uv so I can manage without uv for a while if need be.

The manual says to change the carbon filters every 6-8 weeks but that seems excessive to me? and i wondered if I should do this before it's fully cycled

I've got the same tank and the same problem. My tank has fully cycled, with nitrate levels always less than 10ppm. I've been in low light mode for a week now, but with little change. My only option is to do frequent water changes.

Keep us informed if you find a fix to the problem and I'll do the same.

Will do, I bought myself a UV steriliser on Sunday so I'll keep you informed as to how it goes. THus far it's looking better already. Apparently a good 3-4 days for full effect.
