Cloudy water

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ya i know they suck. Just moved recently and there are packed somewhere and I have to use strips till i find them :3. It was the same as last time 0s.

"If" all zeros, this would indicate a very clean uncycled tank. Not neccessarily bad for the fish, But the nitrites and/or ammonia will spike due to a lack of BB. Just keep an eye on the parameters and things should worth themselves out over the next week or so.

Thanks for the help!

Mentioned already but I'd get a liquid test kit! API is the popular brand and check your parameters using it. Test strip can be very unreliable.
Are you treating your water with Prime/etc. when doing a water change?

Yeah, for the best interest of the fish I think you should probably get a more accurate test kit.

Green water usually will indicate an algae bloom. Which is freeflowing algae thats not ancored down. This would indicate an abundance of ammonia or nitrites in the water. This would cause the fish to be very lethargic.

But like I said prior, Something spiked. Do 2 25% water changes today and 1 everyday for the next couple days. Be SURE that not a flake of leftover food is left to rot. If the tank receives any natural sunlight, You should prevent that. Leave lights on for no more than 6 hours a day.
I wish you the best of luck, Sensitive fish going through a nitrogen cycle is very harsh on them. I hope they make it.
And dont mess with the filters.

Should i do water changes? Hopefully picking up another liquid test kit today. Tested with the strips this morning and same as yesterday. Would turning on my UV sterilizer on help at all?

^ A UV sterilizer should help with the green water given its algae and the flow rate VS power on the UV is correct...
