Until you start testing your water, you will not see the true cause of the problem. A complete fresh water test kit is only $30.

.....Freakin' Newbie.....I do not respect your setup, but I'm not discriminating...SO....Purchase a 5-1 Test Strip for about $11.99, much cheaper than the $30 test kit....That's all from me...O yeah...Now is the time to start saving up for a bigger, longer tank....You'll need it especially for that Arowana if you don't want growth problems...As for bass, I eat them, don't keep them(just another wise azz opinion), so I do not know much about those....If you are seriuos, just keep doing searches on things you'll have questions on...Sooner or later you'll kick ass in the hobby....Welcome to MFK.....

WELL just to let u know i respect your opinions and i wasnt saying im not gonna listen..... as a matter of fact i got a test kit and the water was fine... i changed the water again... added salt... and decreased the temp to 83... i believe the ich in the rocks were clouding the water and its all gone.... which doesnt mean im gonna stop treatig i am going to cont for another week, and im already looking for a MUCH larger tank b/c the last thing i wanna do is get rid of my little aro buddy.... hes my fav i just love feeding him out of my hand

i had the water at a relativly high 86 hoping to kill all ich which just made the water get dirtier faster

though i am gonna stick to my "large mouth bass will do fine" opinion b/c i have had him longest and he seems to be the most well tempered.

TY for all your advise... the tank has made a big turn around OVER NIGHT

i look forward to asking more questions and learning more

Correct me if I'm wrong here, OK---->The higher temperature does not actually KILL the free swimming protazoas(ICH)....In fact, the high temps speed up the hatching of the ICH, causing them to swim in the medicated treated water, which in turn kills them....Those white spots are not the actual ICH, but the holes of the hatched ICH....Keep us informed buddy....

wrong bud, higher temp help illiminates ich.

Doesn't higher temp speed up fish metabolism so that they recover faster. Its the salt and the meds that take care of the Ich? I would go out now and buy another filter, then you will have something else cycled in case you set up a bigger tank for the aro and the bass and use the 55 for the pleco and the barbs soon. You will have more bacteria that will help with the cycling process. Good Luck, and like Chompers said, listen we are all here to help!
