Is clout good for internal parasites also, specifically white stringy poop? Are there any natural cures for internal parasites?

clout in general is not a good med. What species are you having trouble with? Is it still feeding?

It depends on what parasite you're talking about. "White stringy poo" isn't a specific parasite, it's more of a symptom telling us they're not digesting their food properly, have diarrhea, etc. Granted in many cases the cause is internal parasites. But you can't just start treating blindly. Are they flashing? have any other problems? Is that the only thing that makes you think it's parasites?

It's my gt. The only things I notice is his poop, and he hasn't ate for 3 days. He still swims around fine though. Right now I have him in my hospital tank, and I bought the clout from a lfs, as it was the only thing that I could find near me for parasites. If jungle parasite would be better I can look for it tomorrow. Or should I just wait and see if any other symptoms occur?

There probably will be no other symptoms. It could also be an internal infection, but that is doubtful. JPC should be available at your LFS, if not find prazipro and soak the food in it and feed to the fish. They might not like it but they'll probably eat it eventually, and it should work.

You can try prazipro in the water, but I've never tried this and don't see how it helps with internal parasites.

I found an old post (by Lupin, also on this forum) at http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=142975
that said the ingredients in Clout are:
trichlorfon
malachite green
hydroxychloroquine
I have no idea what kind of parasites that would treat although malachite green is used to treat ich. The safest and probably most effective thing to use for the most common parasites is something with Praziquantel in it. That'd cover things like tapeworms and flukes. General Cure, Jungle Parasite Clear and PraziPro all have praziquantel in them. You can get Parasite Clear and General Cure at PetsMart or Petco. Not all fish shops have PraziPro but the others are as good. All are super easy to use and safe. I tried the medicated fish food years ago and thought it was worthless because they wouldn't eat it. If he was in a tank with your other fish then you might as well put him back and treat the whole tank because they've all been exposed IF he's got parasites.

Ok, I would rather treat the whole tank to be safe anyways. I have one butterfly pleco in the tank though. Would jpc harm the pleco?

I was referring to the dissolving tabs. I don't think the gt would eat them either, as he's not eating anything right now. So if it's ok for the pleco I will buy a couple boxes tomorrow. Should I just follow the directions on the box, or has anyone had more success with different dosages? Thanks for your responses.
