Clown acting weird, or is this just how they are?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Clownfish have a nature instinct to host something, when they are farmed raised they don't gain the experience from elder clowns on what to actually host and so they will try anything. Perfectly normal don't worry.

Hang on, so I could add another clown with the current clown if I am going to get a Valentini puffer and some sort of goby?

I don't know about the stock, but as for the other clown, Yeah, but you gotta be careful about it. How long have you had that clown? How big is it? I don't know how to age a clown, but I'm sure somebody here can with the right info...If he's been alone long enough, he's probably a she and then you'd have to add a baby and hope for the best. But I trust what Otherone said, and am going to go with its common enough an occurrence for people to try and succeed....

It's about 2 in and i have had it for about 2 weeks, but I mean I would love to get a black clown, I just don't want to ever stock.

I'm going on personal experience here, so take this with a grain of salt. I'm gonna say she's old enough to be a female. When I got my male, he was maybe an inch and a quarter and my female (at about two years old) twice that. But wait to see what one of the pros says....

And when you say black clown, do you mean legit black clown or an onyx? (I don't know if reg ocellaris come in onyx but...). I don't think you can mix species, but I don't know for sure....

Hey in my defense I didnt see it is the marine section because I was in the 'whats new' section...and I'm a bit of an idiot

I found out it was a clown fish when they mentioned the salinity and the LR :D
