Mine get fed once a day, right before the lights turn out. Most of mine are 3"-9". They are fed flake most days and occasionally given frozen market shrimp.
Once a day max for all sizes. I have 5 (1.5-2.5) little guys that I try to feed several small meals each day. Is this wrong? Should I just give them one large meal a day?
Actually, my smaller ones get fed once a day too, but slightly larger meals. It is OK to feed more than once a day, just use less food. Nitrate control is my goal, especially with my stocking levels.
I like feeding them often but with little portions.
I feed mine Betta and Hikari Cichlid Gold pellets, Rainbow Colour and Tetramin flakes, bloodworms, insects, brineshrimp, algae wafers, cucumber and zucchini.
I pretty much feed just once a day also, usually just before lights out in the tank ~ 9:00-10:00PM. The only exception is when i feed veggies (usually zuchini or cucumber) i will put it in either in the morning before i go to work or just as i arrive home ~5:00-6:00 PM. This seems to work well as i have had what i consider to be good growth rates (for clown loaches anyways).
