why does he pace and charge at the glass?

I'm sure he's just adjusting to his new home, but it could also be early signs of Ick. Its very common with CL's anytime they get moved. How big is the tank & how many buddies did he have at the store?

How long have you had the clown? What kind of hiding places does it have? He needs a group to shoal with. They will play with each other, swim together, smush themselves into tiny places and pile on top of each other. He may also just be bored and trying to play with the others.

only had two others the tank at the store tank right now is a 85-90 gallon there are plenty of hideing spaces since i have a pleco and a fire eel in there as for ick the tank is around 80-82 degrees and i have a ionizer and a uv steralizer

Its possible that he may settle down in time if this is a new tank and there are plenty of hiding spaces, but he may continue to pester the other fish as he attempts to shoal with them. Your best bet is probably to add at least a few more and they will likely ignore the other fish and do their own thing.
