Its possible that he may settle down in time if this is a new tank and there are plenty of hiding spaces, but he may continue to pester the other fish as he attempts to shoal with them. Your best bet is probably to add at least a few more and they will likely ignore the other fish and do their own thing.

would the clown loach shoal with a yo yo loach as well as the other loaches?

Oh lol i thought you mean like clownfish as in anemone fish!! With SDs???? Any way they like to be in numbers; usually 5-6 should do it. A large tank is required to keep that many comfortably for life

will clown loach get along with yoyo loaches?

Usually, yes. However, single loaches usually get territorial. If you want clowns, get a shoal of clowns. If you want Yo-Yo's, get a shoal of them. Or get a shoal of each... Adding Yo-Yo's instead of clowns will not help your clown's current situation, though.

so adding acouple clowns and yoyos would work although there isnt much room for more bottom feeders

If there isn't alot of room, I would just stick with the clowns. Just keep in mind these guys can get big, but they grow slowly.

besides red tailed loaches wat other loaches from south east asia and indonesia would get along with my 4-5" clown i want to add one or two other clowns but i would also like another loach that would get along with them?

IMO an Angelicus would do fine if you added 2 or 3 more Clowns to your tank. I have one in with my half dozen Clowns and they all shoal and play together without any issues. With Clowns the more the merrier. And the more you have, the more they entertain you. They just need lots of room to grow. Don't worry though you have time to save up for a bigger tank and accessories!!!

:D:D

I tend to agree with Mr. A here... The Angelicus botia (actually botia kobutai) are great tankmates for CL's, but for now you should just start with more CL's. They wont shoal with the CL's but they make a great contrast & have no problem getting food, despite their more slender build. I also love the way their patterns change as they grow from dots to stripes to a grid, then finally to some unique combination of dots/stripes/grid. Its almost like they're just trying stuff on until they find one thats different from the others...

One cool trick I learned from the Loachaholics around here is that if you are short on bottom space, CL's will shoal with Tiger Barbs due to the similar coloration, which pulls them up from the bottom & gets them swimming higher up in the tank. Its fun to watch them dart around & try to keep up with the T-barbs, too!

One thing to note: the kobutai (aka burmese border loach/marble loach/polkadot loach) act much different than CL's. The larger the shoal, the LESS you will see them. What I mean is they dont shoal much while swimming, but they do like to pack in very tightly under rocks & logs. In order to see mine more active, I spread them out with no more than 3 in a tank & I never put them with another of the same size. That way they are always out & about. They're too dang beautiful & expensive to stay hidden under rocks until the lights go out. Unfortunately, like CL's, they are all wild-caught & must be quarantined/de-wormed before they join your healthy fish.
