I will assume for now that the knife was dying and that the wels attack was provoked by it. Three remaining knives.
Both smaller knifes have been adopted out.

great looking royal, you usually don’t see them with a pattern that strong at such a large size
It took me long enough, but the knife samples I took from you a while back finally got sent off for sequencing with some others today. Glad I ended up getting them, otherwise I wouldn’t have had very many captive bred fish to use for the comparison.

Still processing some stuff, but it looks like one of your two larger knifes may have been wild caught in Florida (still pending), do you happen to recall whether the owners raised it from a baby or if it was purchased large? Could either have been wild caught or provide explanation through aquarium trade introduction (and not deliberate stocking) depending on how strong the connection is/if you happen to know the origin of the fish.
