Mine goes up for air a few times a day. He has hit the glass top a few times but I have a few inches between the water level and glass so it's a rare event. As long as you're feeding him enough, it shouldn't matter if it's live or frozen. I'd try feeding him a bit more. Mines 23 inches long and he eats about 6 to 8 silversides a day. How big is your CK? How big is your tank?
